Advice for Couples on their wedding day

If you’re in the early planning stages of your engagement or just a few weeks away from the big day, here’s some Advice for Couples on their Wedding Day! You’ve probably read all of the blogs, looked at the wedding apps, and maybe even gotten some words of wisdom from your friends, but preparing for your wedding day is a big deal.

If you check Google, there are a ton of blogs and checklists for what to do after the wedding or married life tips. This blog is specific advice for couples on their wedding day. As a wedding photographer, I’ve witnessed many weddings, and my most significant piece of advice is to soak it all in! Remember the real reason all of this hoopla is happening… you’re marrying your best friend! Take time during the day to be in the moment with each other. Enjoy a few kisses, chat about the day, and remember that you’ll be partners for a lifetime after the celebration is over.

Keep in mind that no matter how perfectly you plan, there is always a chance of a mishap or blunder. Typically this is something minor, but it happens. But remember to keep yourself focused on the big picture. You’ll be married to your best friend, and everything will be ok at the end of this day!

Wedding Day Advice From a Seattle Wedding Photographer

The big day has arrived, and the planning and preparation have been completed as much as possible. Nevertheless, there might still be some small, minor details that need to be worked out. So I suggest you assign a point of contact. This can be a friend, family member, or day-of coordinator, that vendors can speak with about these last-minute things. Doing this will allow you the freedom to relax and not be interrupted while you’re enjoying the time with your bridesmaids and getting ready for your big day.

Ensure that the vendors have this person’s phone number to contact them instead of you. Doing so will alleviate a lot of stress for you. In addition, make sure there are plans for what happens with all the decorations, food, and gifts from your reception. If you and your spouse are jetting off on a trip or an overnight stay, make sure this stuff gets taken to your place or wherever you want it to be placed.

Advice on Your Wedding Day

There’s probably a good chance you’ll both be hungry by the end of the day after the celebration. You may have been too nervous to eat, or you didn’t have a chance to eat at the reception because you were visiting with your guests or taking photos with your photographer. Whatever the reason, I highly recommend asking your caterer to leave some extra food for to-go boxes (along with some cake). It would be such a shame if you didn’t enjoy the food that all of your guests did!

Lastly, this day will go by fast and probably feel like a whirlwind of a day, but take a few minutes to realize all of the love that is with you. All of the people you love are present for this day to celebrate you both, so remember to take time to feel the love.

I hope my advice for couples on their wedding day has given you things to remember for your big day! If you’ve just gotten engaged or looking for a photographer, I’d love to chat with you about your vision for your wedding day!
